From a Reel link to text you can actually edit
Reels are awkward to work with precisely because the words only exist as audio. You cannot search them, quote them, translate them, or paste them into a brief. This page takes the link and gives the spoken words back as plain text, so the video becomes something you can read at your own speed and reuse.
It runs in the browser with nothing to install, no Instagram login, and no account on the free tier. Paste the link, get the text.
How to get an Instagram Reel transcript
- Copy the Reel link. Open the Reel, tap Share, and choose Copy link. A profile or explore URL will not work — it has to be the link to the individual Reel.
- Paste it into the box. Paste the link into the field at the top of this page and start the transcription.
- Copy or download the text. Read the transcript on screen, copy it, or download it as a .txt file. Signed-in users can also save it to their Library.
What people use Reel transcripts for
- Repurposing. Turn a Reel you already published into a caption, a newsletter section, or a blog paragraph without retyping it by ear.
- Competitive research. Read what a creator in your niche actually says, instead of guessing from the visuals and the caption.
- Accessibility and note-taking. Read a Reel in a quiet room, or keep a written record of a recipe, workout, or tutorial you want to come back to.
- Translation prep. Get the source text first, then translate it with whichever tool you already trust.
Honest limits
Instagram support is still in beta, and we would rather say so plainly than let you find out on a link that matters. Private, deleted, age-restricted, and region-locked Reels cannot be accessed at all. Speech buried under loud music transcribes poorly, and a Reel with no talking has nothing to transcribe.
Transcription is automatic, so expect the usual machine-transcription mistakes on proper nouns, slang, and strong accents — read it before you publish it. When a link fails, the error message says whether the fetch step or the transcription step failed, so you are not left guessing.
Privacy
We never ask for your Instagram credentials, and only publicly viewable Reels are supported. The source media is fetched to produce the transcript and is not retained. Transcripts are saved to your Library only if you are signed in and choose to save them.
Free and Pro
Free gives you three transcripts per day, up to five minutes each, as .txt — no account, no card. Pro is $8/month for 300 transcripts and 900 minutes, clips up to 60 minutes, up to 10 links in one batch, an unlimited Library, and .srt export when the transcription step returns reliable timestamps for that clip.
Frequently asked questions
How do I get the transcript of an Instagram Reel? Copy the Reel's link from the share sheet, paste it into the box at the top of this page, and the spoken audio is converted to text. No account is required on the free tier.
Is it free? Yes. Three transcripts per day, up to five minutes each, exported as .txt, with no account and no credit card. Pro is $8/month for 300 transcripts, 900 minutes, and clips up to 60 minutes.
