This Privacy Policy describes how the individual operator of ReelTranscript, based in China ("we," "us," or "our"), collects, uses, and protects your information when you use reeltranscript.com.
1. Who We Are
ReelTranscript is an AI-powered video transcription tool operated by an individual based in China. Where applicable law requires additional operator or registration information to be displayed, we will provide it on the website.

2. What We Collect
2.1 Information We Collect Automatically
IP Address — We use your IP address solely to enforce usage limits and prevent abuse. We store only a pseudonymous HMAC-based counter linked to a time window, not the raw IP address. We do not use this counter to build advertising profiles.
Usage Analytics — We collect anonymized, aggregated data about how visitors use our site. See Section 4 (Third-Party Services) for details.
2.2 Information You Provide
Video URLs — When you paste a video URL to request transcription, that URL is processed by our server to extract audio. It is not retained after the request unless you explicitly save the result to your Library, in which case the source URL is stored with the saved transcript.
Temporary Audio Uploads — When you upload an audio file, it is stored in a private Cloudflare R2 bucket under a random identifier for up to 30 minutes so the transcription provider can fetch it. The file is deleted after processing, and an automated cleanup removes abandoned uploads.
Device History (Optional) — The website stores up to 20 recent transcript results in your browser local storage for convenience. This device-only history is not uploaded to our database and can be cleared from the transcript interface or through browser settings.
Batch Draft Recovery (Optional) — The Batch workspace keeps its current input and completed rows in your browser local storage for up to 24 hours so an accidental refresh does not erase your work. You can remove the draft at any time with Clear draft. It is not uploaded to our database unless you explicitly choose Save completed to Library.
Saved Library Content (Optional) — Signed-in users may explicitly save a transcript, its source URL, language, timestamps, structure draft, and tags to their private Library. Saving is optional and is never performed automatically.
Google Account Details (Signed-in Users) — If you sign in, Google shares your stable account identifier, email address, and display name with us. We use them to create your account and link paid access to it.
Creem Purchase Details (Paid Users) — Creem, our Merchant of Record, sends us customer, checkout, order, and subscription identifiers needed to activate and manage your plan. Payment card and billing details remain with Creem and its payment partners.
2.3 What We Do NOT Collect
- We do not retain source video or audio after processing; uploaded audio may be held temporarily as described above.
- We do not store transcription results unless a signed-in user explicitly chooses Save to Library.
- We do not require account registration for the first free use. Google sign-in is required for Library storage and paid plans.
- We do not collect payment card details. Google may provide a display name when you sign in, and Creem handles checkout and billing information as Merchant of Record.

6. Your Rights
6.1 All Users
You may request Access (a copy of data we hold about you), Deletion (removal of your personal data), and Correction (correction of inaccurate data). You can download your account and saved Library data or delete all Library items from Account → Your data. For full account deletion or another privacy request, contact us at privacy@reeltranscript.com. We will respond within 30 days.
6.2 European Users (GDPR)
If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA), you have additional rights: right to restriction of processing, right to data portability, right to object to processing based on legitimate interests, and right to lodge a complaint with your local Data Protection Authority.
6.3 California Residents (CCPA)
California residents have the right to know what personal information we collect, to delete it, and to opt out of its "sale." We do not sell your personal information. For requests, contact: privacy@reeltranscript.com
7. Cookies and Tracking
We use a combination of cookieless and cookie-based analytics:
- Plausible Analytics: No cookies, no cross-site tracking. GDPR-compliant by design.
- Google Analytics 4: Uses cookies. IP anonymization is enabled. You can opt out via your browser settings or our Cookie Banner.
- Microsoft Clarity: Uses cookies for session recording and heatmaps. You can opt out via our Cookie Banner.

8. Children's Privacy
Our service is intended for users aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a child under 13, please contact us at privacy@reeltranscript.com and we will delete it promptly.
9. International Data Transfers
Your data may be processed outside your country or region, including through service providers operating in the United States and Singapore. We limit these transfers to what is needed to provide the service and apply the safeguards required by applicable law.
10. Security
We implement industry-standard security measures including HTTPS encryption, Cloudflare DDoS protection, and access controls on our databases. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy on this page with a revised "Last Updated" date. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance.
